#RainbowLaces
This year Kingston Cougars are aiming to stamp out homophobia in Kingston Uni, and join the national campaign. February is LGBT History Month, and as you probably know, homophobia can be a real issue in sport: “More than six in ten (63 per cent) gay and bisexual men and four in ten (38 per cent) lesbians and bisexual women expect to experience homophobia if they took part in team sport and were open about their sexual orientation.” (Stonewall, see link below). Therefore, to show our support for the LGBT community and LGBT people in sport, on Wednesday 25th February and Wednesday 4th March is going to be Kingston Cougars (Sport) vs.Homophobia day's, and It would be great if as many people as possible could wear the Rainbow laces those days. The KUSU Sports Office on Penhryn Road Campus (above the Space Bar SU), has lots of pairs of rainbow laces for only £3.00, and will be selling them during office hours (Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm). So let’s get as many people as possible to wear the laces and show our support! For more info on Stonewall’s rainbow laces campaign: http://www.stonewall.org.uk/what_we_do/10013.asp
